2 quotes from Alechinsky

Notes for an abstract artist
When a painter thinks to disengage from the world outside himself and fantasies unprecedented forms he thinks he will make a painting, he finds in this expression the same effect - I would even say the same picture - that he had unconsciously acquired by his habit to experience reality intensely. (Pierre Alechinsky)

People think you can get out your canvas and paint any time you have a free moment. You can’t. Commercial art and painting are entirely different. Painting takes a different mental approach. You have to get the right attitude, the right mood. (Pierre Alechinsky)

Wall of Silence - E. Moo Young art.

Abstract figurative mixed media art. Rapid drawing using oil crayons, acrylic, pen lines to etch out
the abject figure and faces.
Are we remaining silent when we witness injustice?

I came across an interesting commentary and quote about Madeline Denaro:

The work of Madeline Denaro is very much about process. A painter committed to abstraction for over two decades, Denaro finds the image secondary to the art making. Working intuitively, she enters a realm of the unknown where there is more of a following than any real choice.
“There is an openness that is needed for this direct experience, this self imposed repetitive process of adding and subtracting, as I build, destroy, erase, paint over. There is a definite chaos through which each work evolves and it seems to return repeatedly to its beginning. But with each return, there are the markings, the scars of the previous. I have a relationship to these subtleties, these sensitivities, keeping some, hiding some...knowing full well all that has been before.”

Let the line lead.

If you work with abstract painting for a period of time, you may come to think of it as a melody, a song, a piece of beautiful music. (Judi Betts)

Abstract art on a yellow t-shirt

Ever wonder what abstract art would look like on a yellow t-shirt?
What the stars might be wearing at next year's Oscar :)

"Obtuse" Mixed media on paper.
Can there be a once and final meaning for anything?

It’s what you learn after knowing it all that counts. -John Wooden
